Delores (Whitson) Marcus, 76, of Parsons, died at 1:13 P.M., Wed., Aug. 4, 2010 at Labette Health.Â She was born on June 12, 1934 at Parsons, a daughter of Carl Clyde and Ruth Nina (Horn) Whitson.Â She was raised here until her family moved to Junction City when she was in the sixth grade.
On October 28, 1951 she and George E. Marcus were united in marriage at the First Baptist Church at Junction City.Â She returned to Parsons in 1993.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Junction City and later First Baptist in Parsons.Â She enjoyed oil painting, reading and watching old movies.
Survivors include her husband, George E. Marcus, Sr., of Parsons, KS; five sons â€“ George Marcus, Jr., and his wife, Gloria, of Junction City, KS; Michael Marcus, and his wife, Cyndi, of Williamsburg, VA; Steven Marcus, and his wife, Sharon, of Parsons, KS; Gregory Marcus, and his wife, Sherri, of Topeka, KS; Patrick Marcus, and his wife, Dee, of Edgerton, KS; Twelve grandchildren; Seven great-grandchildren; one brother â€“ Myron Welton, of Nebraska; two sisters â€“ Evelyn Fegan, of Paola, KS; and Lynette Bright, of Manhattan, KS.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two infant grandsons and one infant granddaughter â€“ Madelyn Dae Rohr.
The body will be cremated.Â Memorial services are planned to be held in Junction City at a later date.Â Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery at Junction City.Â Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association and may be left at or mailed to the CARSON-WALL FUNERAL HOME, P.O.
